It is a britle metal in bluish light gray color. It belongs to the group of transition elements in the periodic table of the elements. The low boiling temperature is remarkable. This value is a very characteristic factor especially in pyrometallurgical metal production. Cast zinc is hard and brittle. It can be shaped at 120 °C. It is has a higher negative value than iron in the electrochemical potential series.
